July 9

Well, the holidays are over, and so, we are back to school. However, by now I'm glad to have a little routine back in my days. I spent most of my holidays reading and watching TV shows over YouTube, and while that is fun, I'm glad to get back into things.

This term in English, I am covering Romeo and Juliet! I've read the play before, and even saw a ballet version a few years ago, but this will still be cool. The only downside is, as I already know the story, and the author, and a lot about it, it's kind of difficult to answer questions like: What do you think when you hear the name “Shakespeare”?

Like, what am I supposed to think? He's a playwright, probably the most famous playwright the world has ever known. How am I supposed to sum up all that Shakespeare means, in a sentence, or even a paragraph. It's times like these that I wish that I didn't read quite so much.

Yesterday, I, my siblings, and our dad went to the Medieval Festival. My sister looked like a genuine princess, with an authentic looking dress. My little brother was a Viking, and even tried to eat my camera! It was funny seeing him eating a lamb shank, gravy dripping off of his chin. He sure looked like a Viking then!

The day before that we were at Surfer's Paradise, on the Gold Coast, and it was an amazing day. It was just the kind of beautiful, sunshiny weather that makes you want to be outside doing something. We visited Ripley's Believe it or Not, and had lunch beside the beach. It was a great day.

This was a photo I took of us by the beach. My sister's feet aren't in this photo.

May 22

My laptop's death warrant is practically signed. As soon as possible, I will be getting a new computer. I'm looking forward to it. I have never had a new computer. For a while I shared a computer with my sister, then my dad gave me his old laptop, but now I should be getting a new computer all my own! I really am blessed.

My sister has taken up knitting. It is so funny to see her sitting there with this gigantic ball of wool, knitting away. It is the biggest ball of wool I have ever seen, probably the length of a ruler, and bright purple. She hasn't told anyone what she is making, except possibly our mother.

My birthday is exactly two weeks away! I'm really excited, but I'm worried that most of my presents will be IOUs. No one seems to have bought me a present yet!

We have all been really busy with schoolwork. Today my older brother and I found out that an assignment that we didn't even know about is due on Friday! My little brother and sister have their teacher coming around in two weeks, and the teacher for me and my brother is coming around next week.

Does anyone agree with me that it seems so weird to say or write 'my brother and me'? For example, which makes more sense, 'the teacher has come for my brother and I', or 'the teacher has come for my brother and I'? 'My brother and me' is grammatically correct, but doesn't sound write. My sister summed it up nicely. "The one that doesn't make sense is correct"!

May 13

On Friday I borrowed a computer game from Brisbane library. It was a Nancy Drew mystery game. This afternoon I tried to install it on my computer and play it, but it didn't work. I tried my sister's computer, with her permission, and it wouldn't work then either! So now I can't play it. The other computers are either in constant use, or the disk drives don't work properly. It's really annoying.

We are planning a really nice dinner for my mother, for Mother's Day. My sister and older brother paid for most of it, with help from our dad. I can't tell you all about it now, in case she reads this before then, but I will tomorrow.

April 1

Yesterday, I went to see The Hunger Games with my siblings and our dad. It was pretty good, but some bits were gory. I'm glad I watched it, but I wouldn't want to watch it again.

We also saw Mirror Mirror, and for that, I really have to say: that Queen is CRAZY!!! I don't want to spoil it for anyone that hasn't seen it but is planning to, so I won't say anything specific, except this. Snow White never ate the apple. That makes it totally different from any other Snow White movie.

Why are some fairytales so popular, while others are basically obscure? Then there are others that lots of people know, but there are very few movies about. For example, The Little Mermaid. How many times have you seen a variation of that compared to something like Cinderella? I think Cinderella, Snow White, and Beauty and the Beast are the Prince and Princess fairy tales with the most variations. Other tales, like Sleeping Beauty, are really well known, but don't have as many variations.

WE ARE ON HOLIDAYS!!! Tomorrow is the first day of holidays. I still have some schoolwork I have to do, but I am officially on holidays, which makes my work seem a lot less important.

March, my Month of Miracles, is over. I might still post miracles sometimes, but it will probably be a lot less regular.

I found something really cool on Google, but if you want to see it, you have to go today. Gmail Tap

The coolest thing EVER!

This is the coolest thing ever! Today, my dad bought my older brother and I a new iPad 3 each! I'm writing on it right now. Mine is white, and it is so cool. I named it Charlie. My dad has all sorts of cool apps that I put on Charlie. It will probably take me a while to find out all the things they can do. It will probably also take me a while to get used to the keyboard.

My sister is rude enough to be reading this over my shoulder as I am writing. She's sitting beside me on the lounge, eating ice cream and jelly, and having difficulty to stop talking.

Awesome quote from my little brother. "She's not allowed to have emotions, she's too young." He's talking about me, and I'm older than he is!

February 19

I am so so so hot. It is really hot here. At three, it was 37 degrees. It was about as hot yesterday, when we were at Dreamworld and White Water World. I got sunburnt on one side of my neck, and it really hurt. The rides were fun though. Most of us went on 7 rides at Dreamworld, and even  my little brother went on some of the thrill rides. He wouldn't go on one of the rollercoasters though, so he only went on 6 rides. My favorite of the day was the Reef Diver. On that ride they spin you at 60km/h, then they raise you in the air until you are spinning round vertically, and even go upside down! That ride wasn't at all crowded, so we all went solo. White Water World was good too. I loved the Hydro Coaster! Huge queues, but it was worth it. We had 9 rides together,, but my older brother skipped on one of the rides, and instead rode the Wedgie twice. Therefore, he had 10 rides. We finished by going over to the Temple of Huey and Little Rippers. Altogether, there are five rides there that you can ride either single or double. It was getting late by then, although we didn't know it, so the queues were practically non existent. I rode 2 rides solo, then I was my little brother's tube carrier for another four rides. It was awesome, going on so many rides! Then, we all gathered, and started getting our stuff. One of the staff actually asked which exit we would be leaving by, it was so late! When we got to the car we found out it was 5:30.

All up, the number of rides we went on was:
My dad: 23
My older brother: 22
Me: 22
My sister: 23
My little brother: 21

That is A LOT of rides.

February 5

We went to Dreamworld yesterday, and it was so cool! I went to just Dreamworld 3 and a half years ago with my dad, and my sibling have never been before, so it was really awesome! We just went on a few smaller rides, not any of the hugely exciting ones, because my little brother doesn't like scary rides, but it was still fun. We enjoyed the water rides a lot, even though some were lame, like the Thunder River Rapids.

I read a few really good books this weekend, as well as 2 really awful ones. I read The Considine Curse on Friday, and it was awful! Definitely not what I like. It had werewolves, and they did the most gruesome things. The other one I read was called The Orphan of Awkward Falls. It wasn't as bad, but still not my type of book. Too weird.

My sister is back on Virtual Villagers. She's liking looking at all the villagers frozen mid-movement. Now she's un-paused the game, and is playing with them. I can hear the sounds the little village kids are making.

February 2

I've got another follower, Wayne. Thank you! It is so cool to see another person following my blog.

Last night, my brother inscribed his initials in soap too. Unfortunately, he chose the soap that we are currently using, and therefore his initials have worn put already.

Isn't it annoying when days are hot without being sunny? I love a hot sunny day, or a cool cloudy day, but a hot cloudy day is just frustrating. It doesn't seem sunny enough to put a fan on, but it's too hot to get by without one. Fortunately, there is a nice breeze blowing through the doors most of the day.

For once, my sister has disappeared, but my older brother is right nearby. I think my sister is in our room, maybe with headphones in, listening to music. My brother is in the backyard, checking for damages after my little brother was in the backyard with a soundtrack of smashing sounds. A little bit alarming.

It's a quarter past two right now, at least in this part of the world. I don't know what everyone else is doing, but they are probably at school. This is part of my schoolwork. Lucky me!

I can't post tomorrow, because we have to get up really early to get to the city, so my sister can get her braces checked. There appears to be a problem with them. After that, we stay in the city for the whole afternoon, because we're spending the weekend with our dad, who lives in the city. There isn't really a point in making the trip twice. My older brother will be in the city all day anyway, to study. So no more posts til Sunday.

Another Update

Yesterday, my brother went to a Orienteering event at the South Bank Institute of TAFE. He wants to be a game designer. It was a bit strange not having him there as we wandered around the city, but I think he'll enjoy going there. He found out that some of his friends are going there too.

This weekend, to finish off a crazy week, we will be at our dad's place. So I can't update on Saturday. I hope we get back on Sunday in time for me to put in a few more hours in my reading record before the reading competition closes.

My little brother is acting a fair bit loopy. It's not even 9, and he's already battling villains in the backyard, with appropriate sounds, and songs.
