Don't you just love old-style lollies? They look so delicious. I don't enjoy any mint lollies, but others are oh so delicious.

1967- Alexander Aitken, a New Zealand mathematician, died. He could multiply two nine digit numbers in his head and could recite Pi to 707 decimal places. He could also render fractions to 26 decimal places in less than 5 seconds. But as a arsult of his amazing memory, he constantly and vividly remembered the horrors of the WWI battlefield he had fought on.
1956- The Wizard of Oz was first shown on television.

Somewhere, over the rainbow, way up high,
There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere, over the rainbow, skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.

Judy Garland as Dorothy, from The Wizard of Oz (first released today)
